One of the most important lessons a woman can learn is this: Nobody gives you power. You take it.

We often wait for permission, for validation, for someone to acknowledge our strength and leadership. But the truth is, power is not something handed to us—it is something we claim for ourselves.
Where Does Power Come From?
There are, of course, some external sources of power. Power can come from:
A Position in Government: Holding an official title grants authority, influence, and decision-making power that affects communities and policies.
A Leadership Role in Business: Being at the helm of a company, a department or a team offers the opportunity to lead, innovate, and create change.
A Family Structure that Assigns Authority: Whether as a parent, an elder, or a caretaker, family dynamics often come with built-in roles of influence.
But beyond these, the power that truly matters—the power to define our lives, make bold decisions, and step into our potential—is ours for the taking.
The Power That Comes from Within
True power is self-generated. It comes from the courage to speak up, the confidence to act, and the determination to persist even when faced with challenges. This kind of power is not granted to us by others; it is forged in the moments when we choose to advocate for ourselves, stand by our values, and take action.
How Do You Take Power?
Own Your Voice: Speak up. Whether in the workplace, at home, or in your community, your voice deserves to be heard. Do not wait for an invitation to share your thoughts—assert them with confidence.
Set Boundaries: Power is also about saying no. When you define what is and is not acceptable in your life, you reclaim control over your time, energy, and decisions.
Make Bold Decisions: Power grows with action. The more you step into leadership roles, take calculated risks, and trust your instincts, the more you reinforce your ability to lead and shape your own path.
Stop Waiting for Permission: If you find yourself waiting for the ‘right time’ or for someone else to acknowledge your worth, stop. The right time is now, and the only validation you truly need is your own.
